Ushirika Day 2026

International Day of Cooperatives — celebrating the role of SACCOs in Kenya's economy

International Day of Cooperatives

Ushirika Day —
Growing Together

Ushirika Day will be celebrated on Saturday, 4th July 2026, marking a key milestone in the cooperative calendar both globally and in Kenya. The day recognizes the vital role that cooperatives — including SACCOs — play in promoting financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and community development.

Celebrations in Kenya are typically held at major venues such as the Kenyatta International Convention Centre or other designated locations, and feature activities such as exhibitions, processions, member education forums, and addresses by government and cooperative leaders.

Ushirika Day provides an important platform for cooperatives to showcase their products and services, engage members, and strengthen partnerships while aligning with the annual theme issued by the International Co-operative Alliance.
