KEWISCO HOUSING CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED

KEWISCO Housing Society Limited was registered in 2014 by Members of KEWISCO Saccowhich is a savings and credit cooperative society registered in 1992 under Cooperative Society’s Act Cap 490, and rules made there under.

KEWISCO Housing currently serves members of staff of  KWS and  employees of its  affiliate institutions  that partner  with it in conservation.

The housing cooperative society is ‘committed to excellence in quality member-oriented service delivery’.

The co-operative draws membership from the whole country – principally in wildlife conservation areas.

The housing society was established and governed through the following objects:-

  • To erect, construct and carry on the business of property development.
  • To provide for its members living accommodation within the area of its operation at a fair and reasonable price together with such ancillary services as roads, drainage, water and light and together with facilities for physical and cultural recreation and all such other matters as are usual, customary and desirous for building estates, blocks of flats or single dwellings
  • To improve existing properties of the society or works thereon, to convert and appropriate any such land into and for roads, streets, squares, gardens and pleasure grounds and other conveniences and generally to deal with and improve the property of the society.
  • To lease or otherwise dispose of the building and other property of the society.
  • To purchase, take on lease or in exchange hire or otherwise acquire any movable or immovable property of any kind of any interest therein any rights or privileges which the Management Committee of the Society may think necessary or convenient for the purposes of or in connection with Society's businesses or which may enhance the value of any other property of the Society.
  • To improve, manage, develop, turn to account, grant rights or privileges in respect of or otherwise deal with any of the property, rights and privileges of the society.
  • To acquire and undertake the whole or any part of the business assets and liabilities of any person or Society carrying on or proposing to carry on any business which the Society is authorized to carry on or which can be carried on in conjunction with any business of the Society or which is possessed of property suitable for the purposes of the Society.
  • To pay out of the funds of the society all expenses which the society may lawfully pay for or in connection with the formation and registration of the Society.
  • To amalgamate, enter into partnership or into any arrangement for sharing profits, union of interests, co-operation joint venture, reciprocal concession, limiting competition or otherwise with any person or society carrying on or engaged in or about to carry on or engage in any business or transaction which the society is authorized to carryon or engage in or can be carried on in conjunction with any business of the society or which is capable of being conducted so as to benefit the society, directly or indirectly.
  • To borrow money or receive money on deposit either with or without security or secured by debentures, mortgages or other security charged on the undertaking or on all or any of the assets of the society.
  • To subscribe for, underwrite, buy; hold, sell and deal (either on or off a stock exchange, and either as principals, agents or trustees) in stocks, shares obligations, debentures, bonds and securities of every description, to advise on investments of all kinds to advise or assist and deal with issues, offers for sale, and generally to carry on the business of stock and share.
  • To establish and support or aid in the establishments and support of associations, institutions, funds, trust and conveniences calculated to benefit employees or ex-employees, Committee members or Ex-committee members of the society or its predecessors in business or the dependants or connections of such persons  to grant pensions and allowances to make payments towards insurance and to subscribe or guarantee moneys for charitable or benevolent objects for any exhibition or for any public or useful object .
  • To remunerate any person or company either in cash or by allotment of shares credited as fully or partly paid up for services rendered or to be rendered in placing or assisting to place or guaranteeing the placing of any of the shares in the Society's capital of any debentures, debenture stock or other securities of the society or in or about the formation or promotion of the society of the conduct or development of its business arid to payout of the funds of the society all expenses and incidentals to its formation and registration.
  • Do all such things as are incidental to or necessary for the attainment of any or all foregoing objects of the Society.
  • To improve, manage, develop, turn to account, grant rights or privileges in respect of or otherwise deal with any of the property, rights and privileges of the society.
